One of the top players in the 2026 basketball recruiting class is coming down to his decision day, and the Huskies are squarely in the mix, according to Jack McCauley of Dawgman. Mingo is planning to announce his commitment soon, and he's down to just four schools: Baylor, North Carolina, Penn State, and Washington.
There is some optimism that Husky head coach Danny Sprinkle can close the deal, but he will have to essentially steal him away from Baylor, which is considered to be the favorite. Yet, there are some, like McCauley, who think the Huskies are squarely in the race for Mingo.

24/7 has Baylor as the favorite to land Mingo, with a Crystal Ball pick for the Bears to land him. However, one reason the other three teams should be optimistic is that, as you can see above, his plan was originally to announce on Thursday. Earlier today, he told recruiting expert Adam Zagoria that his decision is being pushed back. Zagoria says it won't be on Thursday now.
This is an important update for those other three teams not named Baylor. At least one of those teams is making a push and may have caused a little bit of indecision for Mingo.
Mingo could have signed in the early signing period, but decided to wait. It seems as if a lot of the top recruits are waiting on each other. Only three players in the top-10 and only one in the top-5 have committed.
Mingo is a 6'5 guard from Glen Head, New York, and is considered one of the players in his recruiting class who could find his way into the NBA as soon as he wants to make that transition. For next year, Sprinkle is just hoping he's wearing purple and gold.
