Folks, Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies had a pretty solid turnout for their 2025 Dawgs after Dark spring game. Now, it wasn’t some sort of record breaking attendance showing from the Huskies’ faithful, but getting a little over 20,000 UW football fans to show up on a Friday evening in Seattle feels like a pretty good win to me.
Fisch deserves some serious credit and recognition for the way that he got fans (and alumni and students and such) to get connected with this event.
From fans kicking field goals to there being tailgating fun to the fact that this was a free event that was heavily emphasized by a coaching staff when so many other coaches are moving away from spring games, this was great.
I’m all on board with the Dawgs after Dark concept and I can’t wait to see what the Huskies are able to do with the event in year three.

While it’s worth noting that this isn’t the most impressive and remarkable spring game crowd ever, it’s still a pretty good one. When you look at the fact that this particular event in its current iteration (being dubbed “Dawgs after Dark,” that is) is a relatively new thing, it’s still worth noting that we are seeing fans show up.
This is a spring game, after all. And folks, Seattle is pretty far from being a stereotypical college town without much to do. There are plenty of other things that UW football fans could be doing during this time. So for around 20,000 Washington Husky fans to make their way to Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium?
That seems pretty good to me.
I mean, the way that Fisch and his staff are emphasizing this event is really cool to see. This is such a unique opportunity for fans to truly engage with the Washington Husky football team and that seems to be something that is important for the head coach of the Huskies.
I can get on board with that.
And it seems like a healthy number of UW football fans can as well:

That’s a pretty solid showing. I’m impressed. I’d love to see more fans in the stands for this sort of thing, but Fisch is building some momentum with this program. He’s getting fan involvement and engagement built up. Now here’s to hoping for a better season in 2025 to reward fans for being connected to the program.
