One of the greatest Washington Huskies ever (and one of the greatest college football players the sport has ever seen) made his way back to Seattle to hang out with Jedd Fisch and his team. Michael Penix Jr. was back in town and was seen on the sidelines supporting the Huskies, which was great to see.

Penix was such an influential and important member of the Huskies just a short time ago, and while he didn’t play for Fisch’s UW football team, it’s still so encouraging and exciting to see Penix continue to have a presence on Montlake.

And it’s also worth noting that Penix was making an effort to engage with fans throughout this game. The UW legend wasn’t just hanging out on the sideline and engaging with players, he made sure to take some time for Washington Husky football fans while he was in town.

I, for one, am a huge fan of that.

Shoutout to the Big Ten football camera crew who was able to get a shot of this happening and then subsequently shared it with the world via social media (also shoutout to Jedd Fisch and his staff for getting Penix to continue coming around and being present, that rocks):

Now, this isn’t a life altering sort of interaction for anyone, but it is really cool that Penix took some time to engage with the folks who supported him while he was in Seattle. And it seems like they’re continuing to root for him.

This is a group of kids, presumably most of whom are from the state of Washington, and you’ve got one kid who is putting on a recently signed Michael Penix Jr. Atlanta Falcons jersey. Which, you know, given that Seattle has a fairly successful somewhat recent NFL history, I wouldn’t think there’d be a ton of folks in the area supporting teams outside of Seattle.

But I could be wrong. Maybe this kid is a Falcons fan first and a UW fan second and he decided to show up and root on his favorite NFL’s team’s starting quarterback. Anything is possible, I suppose.
