According to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Jimmie Dougherty is expected to leave his current position as Washington’s offensive coordinator.

Dougherty served as Washington’s quarterbacks coach from 2024-2025 and as passing game coordinator in 2024. He also previously served as the Huskies’ passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach under Steve Sarkisian from 2009-2012.
Dougherty never called plays for the Huskies, who are run offensively by head coach Jedd Fisch. However, his departure is still significant, as it marks the end of a decade-long partnership between the two coaches.
Jedd Fisch and Jimmie Dougherty first coached together in 2016
Fisch and Dougherty’s working relationship began ten years ago, when Dougherty began working as an offensive analyst for Michigan during Fisch’s second season as the Wolverines’ quarterbacks coach, wide receivers coach, and passing game coordinator.
Dougherty accepted a job as Oregon’s wide receivers coach in Dec. 2016, but left just weeks later when Fisch, now the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at UCLA, offered him a role as the Bruins’ receivers coach and passing game coordinator.
Fisch left UCLA for the NFL in 2018, but Dougherty remained with the Bruins until 2021, when he reunited with Fisch–now a head coach–as Arizona’s passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Dougherty and Wildcats offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll then followed Fisch to Washington in 2024. Dougherty worked under Carroll again in 2024 but was promoted to offensive coordinator when Carroll left to coach the Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive line in Feb. 2025.
Now, Dougherty is expected to part ways with Fisch and the Huskies. It’s a bit of a surprising move, as Dougherty and Fisch’s offensive partnership was fairly effective. Washington’s 2025 offense was among the Big Ten’s best in yards per game (5th) and points per game (4th).
According to Chris Peters of 247Sports, assistant quarterbacks coach J.P. Losman is expected to take over Dougherty’s duties as quarterbacks coach unless the Huskies’ next offensive coordinator also fills that role. Losman has reportedly “assumed a larger role” in recent times, particularly in recruiting quarterbacks.
