Week 2 of the 2025 season is upon us, and the Washington Huskies will take on UC Davis tonight at 8:00 PM. With that, many fans are wondering if the Huskies' top priority in the transfer portal will finally see the field in some game action. Well, I got bad news for you...
Omari Evans: Out
Evans will miss his second consecutive game for the Huskies, due to a soft-tissue injury, according to coach Jedd Fisch. Evans entered the season as one of the starting wide receivers on the UW depth chart, a key complimentary target to ease some pressure off Denzel Boston. He recorded 415 receiving yards and five touchdowns last season for a Penn State team that reached the CFP Semifinal.
Instead, it will be true freshmen Raiden Vines-Bright and Dezmen Roebuck taking over the Z-wide receiver spot against UC Davis. Evans could return any week, hopefully for next game against Washington State following a bye week.
Jayvon Parker: Questionable
Parker missed last week's season opener because he was still recovering from an Achilles tear from last season. He practiced this week, but still hasn't been cleared to play. Still, it's looking like it is possible Parker may play tonight against UC Davis, and he would be a tremendous reinforcement for the defensive line.
It also wouldn't be surprising if Fisch is cautious to get Parker back into action against an FCS opponent with a bye week to follow.
Dyson McCutcheon: Out
McCutcheon, a fourth-year nickelback, is out for his second-consecutive game to start the season with an unspecified injury. He played in 12 of 13 games last season, providing good experience and depth to a talented UW secondary. He is also an impactful special-teams player. Leroy Bryant and Rahshawn Clark will take turns playing snaps at nickel tonight.
Jacob Manu and Zaydrius Rainey-Sale: Out
Both Huskies linebackers are out due to recovery from an offseason surgery. Manu, an Arizona transfer from the most recent cycle, is recovering from an ACL tear. In 2023, he led Fisch's Wildcats as a sophomore with 116 tackles before being named a captain the following season. He could return as early as the Washington State game.
Rainey-Sale is a true freshman who was the top recruit in Washington in the class of 2025. The four-star recruit was Fisch's prize possession in his first full recruiting class, but he is also recovering from a torn ACL he sustained during his senior high school season. He may also return some time soon, but it wouldn't be surprising if he gets redshirted this season, regardless.
