Washington’s 2027 recruiting class, which already features 21 commits, is strong in a few areas. The Huskies appear to have a secure future at quarterback, receiver, linebacker, and safety. The offensive line remains an area of weakness, but on Wednesday, the Huskies will have two opportunities to change that.
Offensive linemen Gecova Doyal and Tye Kennedy are each planning to announce their collegiate commitments at Rivals Summer Signing Day, a four-hour live event which will be broadcast via the Rivals YouTube channel from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. PST on Wednesday. Both linemen are expected to commit to the Huskies, who have only landed a commitment from one offensive lineman – center Reis Russell – through almost five months of 2027-focused recruiting.
Gecova Doyal is expected to stay home with the Huskies
Doyal, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound native of Puyallup, Wash., wouldn’t have to travel far if he decides to make himself a Husky. Doyal’s efforts at Puyallup High School have earned him a four-star rating from Rivals, which ranks him as the nation’s No. 257 overall player, the nation’s No. 17 interior offensive lineman, and the state of Washington’s No. 4 overall talent.
Doyal has primarily played offensive tackle in high school, but the limitations of his frame will likely push him inside to guard at the collegiate level. He’s described by 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks as “aggressive,” and as having the kind of “physical play style” and “sudden pop at the point of attack” which should translate well to the interior.
He’s also got a long history with the Huskies: Washington sent him his third-ever Division I offer back in May 2024. Since then, he’s made two unofficial visits to Montlake, an appearance at Junior Day in March, and an official visit on the weekend of June 19-21. He’s been described by SeaTown Sports’ Kevin Cacabelos as “a near-constant presence at practices.”
With a commitment looming, Washington’s efforts appear to have paid off. As of Monday night, Rivals lists Doyal’s odds of committing to the Huskies at 90.7%. He’s already received Rivals Insider predictions from Greg Biggins (60% confidence on June 21) and Brandon Huffman (65% on June 29) which both place him on Montlake.
“What stood out the most to me was what they have going for the players after football is all said and done,” Doyal said of UW to Huffman.

The Huskies are certainly the favorite to land Doyal’s services, but Oregon, UCLA, and Utah are still vying for his commitment. The Ducks, who’ve reportedly hosted Doyal on five unofficial visits and one official visits, are likely the only other team to watch, but their odds remain low at 5%.
Tye Kennedy has a Washington legacy to uphold
Kennedy, a three-star offensive tackle out of Mesa, Ariz., won’t make his choice public until tomorrow. However, given his family history, a commitment to Washington may be a long time coming.
Kennedy’s father, Lincoln Kennedy, is a legendary former Husky who played for the Huskies from 1989-1992. While at UW, Kennedy won a national title in 1991 and earned several individual honors. He was ultimately drafted ninth overall in the 1993 NFL Draft and enjoyed a 14-year professional career. Kennedy was inducted into the University of Washington Hall of Fame in 2004, the College Football Hall of Fame in 2015, and the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame in 2023.
"I've been a Husky fan since I was really little," Kennedy told Dawgman.com after receiving an offer from UW. "By the time I found out my dad played for Washington, I was already a fan. Purple is my favorite color and once I had gotten a chance to go up and go to a game up there, I was probably like five or six, I just loved everything about being up there. The stadium, the crowd, the trees, everything just made me feel like, 'this is what college football is all about.’ I loved it.”
Kennedy’s got a childhood connection to the Huskies like no other, but he’s not a little kid anymore. At 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds, he’s got the kind of frame that should allow him to play offensive tackle in college and beyond. However, he’s able to complement that size with impressive movement skills, which Kennedy says has made him attractive to UW offensive line coach Michael “Switz” Switzer.
"Coach Switz is a really cool guy," Kennedy said to Dawgman.com last November. "I got to meet him in real life and he is amazing to talk to. It was honestly nerve-wracking to talk to him. I was afraid I was going to say the wrong things. I haven't seen him coach just yet, but hopefully I will soon. I think he is a really great coach. I watch Washington games and watch that offensive line dominate. It's something special.”
It’s no surprise, then, that Kennedy, who 247Sports rates as the nation’s No. 49 offensive tackle and Arizona’s No. 12 overall player, is even more heavily favored to commit to Washington as Doyal is. On Monday night, Rivals gave Kennedy a 95.1% chance of landing with the Dawgs, with neither of his other finalists (Michigan and Utah) holding odds of even 2%. 247Sports’ Blair Angulo also crystal-balled Kennedy to the Huskies with 60% confidence on June 21.
Angulo's prediction came just as Kennedy was completing his official visit to UW, which he made alongside Doyal and Russell from June 19-21. Also present was Kennedy’s famous father, who at 55 years old looks like he could show give edge rushers a bad time:

Landing both Doyal and Kennedy on Wednesday would be a major success for head coach Jess Fisch and the Huskies, whose recruiting haul currently ranks 24th nationally according to both 247Sports’ and Rivals’ composite ratings. Commitments from these two prospects would likely raise Washington even higher up the rankings, and would also go a long way toward establishing UW’s offensive line of the future.
