The Washington Huskies have had a hard time getting used to life in the Big Ten. Plenty of things have changed from last season to this season (including various different members of Washington’s coaching staff and the roster). And while the Washington Huskies men’s basketball team is sitting at 10-10 on the season and 1-8 in Big Ten play, Danny Sprinkle and the Huskies have a shot to get a win this weekend.

To be completely honest, I don’t really know how good of a shot it is, but the Minnesota Golden Gophers are also struggling this season, sitting at 11-10 overall and 3-7 against Big Ten teams. So, with the way UW’s season is going, that feels pretty good.

Or at least it theoretically seems hopeful. Which is certainly a good thing. Because there haven’t been all that many reasons for hope this season.

Except Great Osobor, that is.

Washington Huskies star Great Osobor has thrived so far, how will he do against the Minnesota Golden Gophers?

Osobor transferred in, following Sprinkle to life in Seattle. And thank goodness that’s what happened. Because even though the Huskies really aren’t winning games, Osobor is leading the UW scoring effort as he puts up 15.5 points per game and challenges opponents on a regular basis.

And in Big Ten play, Osobor has really been a bright spot for the Huskies as he’s averaged 16.4 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per game in conference play. While he doesn’t take a ton of three point attempts, Osobor is still averaging 38.1 percent of shots from behind deep.

This matchup will give Osobor a chance to take on Minnesota big man Dawson Garcia, a 6-foot-11, 234 forward for the Golden Gophers. It seems like Garcia might be difficult to slow down, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. But it will be interesting to see what happens when Garcia attempts to slow Osobor.
