The Washington Huskies women’s basketball team has a little bit before they head all the way from Seattle to University Park, Pennsylvania for a Big Ten matchup with the Penn State Nittany Lions, but it’s worth us exploring what sort of luck Washington might have down the stretch of the season.
Tina Langley and the Huskies aren’t exactly having the best season ever and UW will need to find some wins down the stretch of the season if the Huskies women’s basketball team is going to have any sort of postseason fun this year.
Thankfully, there are certainly some winnable games on Washington’s schedule. Take the Penn State Nittany Lions, for example. Things can certainly change between now and when these two teams meet up (and they almost certainly will because of the games that will be played between now and then), but right now, Washington has a pretty dang good shot of winning this Big Ten road game.
Washington Huskies women’s basketball schedule: Do the Huskies have a shot to beat Penn State on the road?
According to the ESPN Analytics Matchup Predictor tool, Langley’s Washington basketball team currently has a 62.5 percent chance of coming out of this game with a win. Washington, at 13-8 and 4-5 in Big Ten play, might be having a season that isn’t all that phenomenal, but Penn State is truly struggling at 10-11 overall and 1-9 against Big Ten teams.
So, this February 5 matchup certainly seems winnable for Washington right now. And that’s encouraging because the Huskies could use some wins. And the game before this one is a brutal trip to Columbus, Ohio to face off against the juggernaut that is the Ohio State Buckeyes.
But a game like Penn State? Well, that has a pretty good chance of helping a team that struggles to win away from Alaska Airlines Arena. Washington has a 2-3 road record this season, but they should be able to get a road win in this one.
