The first-game jitters got the best of the Huskies early into their season opening game against Colorado State. The game was tied 7-7 after the first quarter, defined by some offensive highlights, but also some defensive woes that haunted UW last season.

"It's a balanced game right now," Jedd Fisch said on the Big Ten Network broadcast after the quarter. "We got to find a way to get a stop and a score."

Immediately afterwards the Huskies got their stop, Washington State transfer Buddah Al-Uqdah made a huge tackle for loss on third and short. Demond Williams Jr. then led a high-octane scoring drive with big passes to freshman Dezmen Roebuck (his first career collegiate recpetion) and Denzel Boston to get the ball to the one-yard line.

Adam Mohammed capped off the drive with a one-yard rush to put the Huskies up 14-7.

Williams Jr. got off to an extremely hot start to the season and game, completing 11 of his first 12 passes for 145 yards. However, he began to slow down, and a bad snap from center Landen Hatchett caused a fumble that killed the Huskies offensive momentum towards the end of the half.

Running back Jonah Williams is also off to a stellar start. He had 51 of Washington's 59 yards in their opening drive, including a 26-yard rushing touchdown. He finished the half with 81 rushing yards on 11 attempts.

However, the defense got to a bit of a shaky start. Despite making some big plays to force punts, the Washington defense once again struggled to stop the run early on. Rams running back averaged 7.4t yards per carry for 85 total, including multiple 20-yard runs and two touchdowns.

The pass defense also had mixed results. Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi had only 16 passing yards until the final series of the half, but then led a drive scoring drive at the end of the half to finish with 69. The Huskies D-line also failed to get enough pressure on Fowler-Nicolosi ending the half with zero sacks.

The score is 14-14 at halftime, and the Huskies are going to need to overcome mistakes and tidy up on both sides of the ball if they want to win this game.
