All things considered, Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies managed to lose to the Seattle Redhawks in a pretty impressive way. A team that was well below .500 on the season picked up its fifth win of the year as it led the Huskies for over 38 minutes.
That’s, you know, not good.
But, while the Huskies lost to the Redhawks in pretty frustrating fashion, it’s worth bringing up how Great Osobor was able to keep this game from getting completely and totally out of hand in the first half. Because all though most of Washington’s lineup really struggled to get on the board in the first half, Osobor had no real issue scoring early on.
And although Washington found itself down 38-23 by the time that halftime rolled around, Osobor was the bulk of that offensive output for Washington. Without Osobor battling against Seattle’s frontcourt, this game really would have gotten out of hand for Sprinkle and the Huskies.
Washington Huskies fans really should be thankful for Great Osobor keeping UW afloat vs. Seattle
Against the Redhawks, Osobor flashed some impressive potential. It wasn’t his best game ever, but he scored a total of 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds before fouls really became an issue for the senior forward.
What’s interesting is looking at how Osobor performed in the first half. During the first 20 minutes of the game against Seattle, Osobor managed to score 13 of his 19 points and pulled down five of his 10 rebounds.
It’s a really good thing Sprinkle and Osobor both showed up on Montlake after their time together at Utah State and Montana State. Because the Huskies definitely needed him against Seattle and they’ll certainly need him moving forward. So far this season, Osobor is averaging 14.4 points per game while also grabbing 8.9 rebounds per game.
He gave Washington a real chance to get back into the game against Seattle. It’ll be interesting to see how he performs against Big Ten competition on a regular basis.
