Ethan Garbers has had an interesting career path that's taken him from a top QB recruit out of California, to the Washington Huskies, to UCLA, to the NFL, before even trying overseas professional football. A couple of those stops were relatively short-lived. He is now back in football, but this time as a high school football coach.
Corona Del Mar High School announced the addition of Garbers as the new quarterbacks coach for the team. It's a homecoming for Garbers, who graduated and played high school football for Corona Del Mar. He's now teaching the next generation a thing or two about making it to the highest levels of football.

Ethan Garbers was one of the top quarterback prospects in his 2020 recruiting class. He was listed as a 4-star pro-style quarterback. He came to Washington with a lot of hype and excitement. He wouldn't play right away, but would have plenty of opportunities to assume the starting role as he developed. However, after he redshirted as a freshman in 2020, he decided to head to UCLA. More of the hometown school, and in hindsight, getting out from under Jimmy Lake.
Garbers ended up playing for the rest of his college career at UCLA and never quite hit the ceiling many thought he would as a 4-star recruit, but he was still very effective nonetheless. He went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft but signed a short contract with the Carolina Panthers. He was waived shortly after.
Garbers signed a contract with the Madrid Bravos for the European Football League, but he won't actually fulfill that contract with this career pivot to high school football coaching.
It's a good move for Garbers who showed from even his Husky days that he always was and wanted to be a California kid, so now he can be a California coach.
