Fans sound off after Washington Huskies fall flat in horrendous game vs Iowa Hawkeyes
By Ethan Lee
Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies just suffered one of the worst possible losses they could have endured this season. In a year in which it has been very evident that the Huskies are rebuilding, everything that could have possibly gone wrong for Washington pretty much did on Saturday.
Against Kirk Ferentz’s Iowa Hawkeyes, Fisch’s Huskies truly looked like a team that is going through a complete and total rebuild. Which is frustrating. We’ve seen UW lose a couple games so far this season, but we hadn’t seen Washington deal with a loss that was anything like a 40-16 beatdown.
Washington was able to move the ball, but the Huskies simply couldn’t score. The UW defense did, at times, slow Iowa’s offense, but the Huskies definitely couldn’t keep up with a rushing attack that got better as the game went along.
Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson demonstrated that he is, indeed, one of the best and most powerful rushers in the country this season. And Cade McNamara just didn’t really make mistakes. When you combine that with Will Rogers’ worst performance since making it to Seattle and the Huskies seemingly forgetting that Jonah Coleman is a good running back, you get a 24-point defeat for the Huskies.
Washington Husky fans react after Iowa Hawkeyes humble Huskies in frustrating road contest
Here’s what Washington Husky fans had to say about this horrible beatdown the Huskies suffered Saturday afternoon.
I mean, this game was just abysmal. Horrible. No good and very bad. It was bad!
Now the Huskies get a bye week to rest up a bit, but they’ve got to figure a few things out in a hurry. The rest of the schedule is pretty rigorous and Washington can’t afford to suffer many more losses if the Huskies are going to go bowling this season.
After the bye week, Washington unfortunately will get the opportunity to hit the road once more as the Huskies will head to Indiana to face a really impressive Hoosiers team. It remains to be seen how the Huskies actually measure up against Indiana, which feels pretty weird to say.
