A couple seasons after Jake Browning lit up defenses and managed to throw for over 40 touchdowns in a single season back in 2016, he followed that up with a pretty respectable showing in which he happened to throw for over 3000 yards once more in 2018.

Now, the totality of the 2018 performance wasn’t quite as impressive as what Browning was able to pull off in 2016. That said, this was just the fifth time a Husky has thrown for 3000 or more yards in a single season and it’s certainly worth noting that Browning pulled off that feat twice. So, this is something to commend him for.

During the 2018 season, Browning threw for 3192 yards as he completed 252 of his 388 pass attempts. That’s all well and good. That’s an impressive amount of yards and a respectable 64.9 percent completion percentage.

But, well, where things get a little wonky is when you look at how Browning threw a grand total of 16 touchdowns in this season and also managed to throw 10 picks. That’s… That’s not great. Everything else from this season? Pretty solid. That touchdown to interception ratio? A bit underwhelming.

A few noteworthy numbers from this season for Browning:

  • 313 yards vs. the Ohio State Buckeyes
  • 313 yards vs. the North Dakota Fighting Hawks
  • 296 yards vs. the Auburn Tigers
  • 277 yards vs. the BYU Cougars
  • 265 yards vs. the UCLA Bruins
  • 243 yards vs. the Oregon Ducks
  • 242 yards vs. the Oregon State Beavers

It is absolutely worth noting that all of this was enough for Browning to help lead the Huskies to another 10-win season that included a Pac-12 Conference Championship victory over the Utah Utes and a trip to the Rose Bowl to meet up with the Ohio State Buckeyes.
