It’s a little unreal just how good of a season that Jake Browning had in 2016. That season was completely different from the rest of his career. And it’s not that the rest of his career was bad or anything along those lines, but the connection that Browning had with John Ross and Dante Pettis in 2016 clearly helped elevate his game in some pretty significant ways.

Those two receiving threats alone ended up catching 32 touchdown passes that season. And that’s just part of the phenomenal season that Browning had in 2016.

This was just the fourth ever season in which a Husky quarterback happened to throw for 3000 or more yards in a single season. It really hasn’t happened all that often and Browning accomplished that feat on a couple occasions.

The 2016 season happens to be the more impressive of the two times that Browning has done just that.

Washington Husky football history: Jake Browning has an incredible season in 2016

During the 2016 season, Browning threw for a total of 3430 yards (those 43 aforementioned touchdown passes) and only tossed nine interceptions. If you’re wondering at home, that yardage total currently stands as the No.4 highest single season passing yardage total.

Here’s a few impressive stat totals from Browning’s 2016 season:

  • 378 yards vs. the California Golden Bears
  • 338 yards vs. the Arizona State Sun Devils
  • 304 yards vs. the Oregon Ducks
  • 294 yards vs. the Idaho Vandals
  • 292 yards vs. the Washington State Cougars
  • 287 yards vs. the Rutgers Scarlet Knights
  • 259 yards vs. the USC Trojans

Oh, and he managed to complete 62.1 percent of his passes as he hit on 243 of the 391 pass attempts he threw during the season. And all of this happened as Browning helped get the Huskies into the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history.
