After Jake Browning ran out of eligibility and threw for a bunch of yards and touchdowns in his four years with the Washington Huskies, UW was able to get another Jacob who transferred from the SEC all the way to Seattle. And it is absolutely fascinating to point out that Jacob Eason put up very similar stats to what Jake Browning had on average.

Thanks to Eason, for the sixth time ever, a Washington Husky managed to throw for 3000 or more yards in a single season. He left the Georgia Bulldogs and then got a shot to start after Browning ran out of eligibility. And Eason did well.

He managed to throw for 3132 passing yards during the 2019 season and he completed 64.2 percent of his passes along the way. That’s not the most earth shattering set of stats ever, but it was good enough to help UW win eight games in 2019.

And hey, for one year of having a quarterback, that’s not a bad deal.

Eason didn’t have many overly impressive performances, but he did throw for 200 or more yards on 10 different occasions. He also managed to throw for 300 or more yards on a couple different occasions. It should be noted that Eason was pretty productive.

Some interesting yardage totals from a few games for Eason and the Huskies in 2019:

  • 349 yards vs. the Eastern Washington Eagles
  • 316 yards vs. the Utah Utes
  • 290 yards vs. the BYU Cougars
  • 289 yards vs. the Oregon Ducks
  • 244 yards vs. the Washington State Cougars

For the final season with Chris Petersen leading the Huskies and for a one-year rental deal of a starting quarterback, things really worked out pretty well for the Huskies with getting Eason to leave Athens in favor of playing in Seattle. And again, this was just the sixth time a Husky ever threw for 3000 or more yards in a single season. That’s worth noting and celebrating
