ESPN analytics prediction doubts Jedd Fisch, Washington Huskies vs. Indiana Hoosiers
By Ethan Lee
The Washington Huskies have certainly looked like an imperfect team, but that probably should be expected a bit when a team is functionally rebuilt from the ground up in the span of roughly half a year. Between a brand new coaching staff and the massive churn that took place on UW’s roster from January to now, the Huskies have shown some potential and then they’ve also fallen short on a few occasions.
Now, this week, Jedd Fisch, Will Rogers, Jonah Coleman, and the rest of the Washington Huskies will get to meet up with a team that is also in the first year of a brand new coaching era. And while Washington has seen a few ups and downs this season, especially in games away from Husky Stadium, Curt Cignetti’s Indiana Hoosiers aren’t experiencing the same growing pains.
At least not right now.
Or really in any of the week’s leading up to this week nine matchup between the Washington Huskies and the No. 13 Indiana Hoosiers. Indiana has done well. They’ve cruised to victory on more than one occasion and they’ve found their way to the top of the Big Ten standings, tied for the lead in the conference with Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks.
That’s pretty noteworthy.
ESPN FPI prediction favors No. 13 Indiana Hoosiers in home game against Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies
And it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the ESPN Analytics Matchup Predictor Tool, which is connected to ESPN’s Football Power Index, is overwhelmingly expecting the Hoosiers to have a chance to win this game.
In total, the magic math machines that play a rather significant role in ESPN’s FPI operations are giving the Hoosiers an 83.8 percent chance of winning. Washington, meanwhile, currently holds just a 16.2 percent chance of winning this game.
And with a rather tough slate of games up ahead, the Huskies really need to find a way to get a solid win worth bragging about and also get a little closer to making it all the way to a bowl game this season. For a team that is still building team chemistry, the extra bowl practices would be huge for the Huskies to get.
But they’ve probably got to find a way to win this game. And that’ll be easier said than done, even if Kurtis Rourke is out of this game.
