Look, it wasn’t great that Washington lost against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies should be pretty upset about the way things went when UW came up short against Iowa in Iowa City.
But, as with all things pertaining to this particular Washington Huskies men’s basketball season, it’s important to remember that this is a rebuilding season and it’s far from being the end of the world that UW came up short.
The Huskies just don’t have the roster where it needs to be to really compete with and beat Big Ten teams on a regular basis. So, close losses are going to happen here and there. They just will.
All that said, it should be noted that DJ Davis was pretty dang incredible when the Huskies faced off against the Hawkeyes in Iowa City on Saturday. He was, by far, the most efficient member of the Washington men’s basketball team and the Huskies should be thrilled that he can contribute at such a high level.
Washington Huskies got phenomenal showing from DJ Davis against the Iowa Hawkeyes
Coming off the bench and returning from being out a game, Davis was remarkable and helped the Huskies in a huge way. To briefly describe his performance against Iowa, Davis was efficient. Heck, this performance might be synonymous with the word at this point.
In a little over 19 minutes, Davis scored 17 points for the Huskies. And he did that while hitting on 6-of-9 shooting from the field. From three point range, Davis made 5-of-8 from deep.
That’s really solid. Especially in this game as Payton Sandfort scored a ridiculous 27 points for the Hawkeyes and the Huskies only got a grand total of 20 points from the bench in this game.
Davis was huge. He can play an incredible role in this offense. It’s an absolute shame that we won’t get another season of Davis playing for the Huskies because games like this are just so much fun to witness.
