A lot of things have changed about the Washington Huskies this year. New coaching, new players all over the roster, a new quarterback, new star receivers, and a new conference. So, it would make sense that Washington’s remarkable passing attack from last season would take a bit of a step back this season.

And in some ways it has. Will Rogers isn’t having the season that Michael Penix Jr. had. The offensive line isn’t quite as good as it was last season. There are just fewer stars all over the place. Last season’s Washington Huskies offense was truly something special.

But, there are still plenty of good (and quite a few great) pieces in place with the Huskies this season. Denzel Boston is definitely among the best on Montlake this year. Leading the Big Ten in touchdown receptions and clearly making headaches for opposing defensive backs and defensive coordinators on a regular basis, Boston is thriving for the Huskies.

And though he’s just a sophomore, he’s one of the top five most productive wide receivers in the Big Ten when it comes to receiving yards.

Washington Huskies wide receiver Denzel Boston sits at No. 5 in Big Ten receiving yards rankings entering week 10

Through eight games and nine weeks, here’s where Boston stacks up amongst his colleagues and contemporaries in 2024 heading into the 10th week of the season:

  • Tai Felton (Maryland Terrapins) - 907 yards
  • Tez Johnson (Oregon Ducks) - 638 yards
  • Jeremiah Smith (Ohio State Buckeyes) - 623 yards
  • Elijah Sarratt (Indiana Hoosiers) - 590 yards
  • Denzel Boston (Washington Huskies) - 583 yards
  • Daniel Jackson (Minnesota Golden Gophers) - 568 yards
  • Tyler Warren (Penn State Nittany Lions) - 559 yards
  • Giles Jackson (Washington Huskies) - 553 yards
  • Emeka Egbuka (Ohio State Buckeyes) - 546 yards
  • Pat Bryant (Illinois Fighting Illini) - 510 yards

The Washington Huskies have definitely needed Boston to perform at the level that he has. And he’s complimenting fellowing UW receiving threat Giles Jackson very effectively. This duo is dangerous and Washington Huskies fans should enjoy seeing them play together now because there’s a good chance both will be playing somewhere on Sundays pretty soon.
