Saturday afternoon, Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies will take on yet another road game in the Midwest. This time, however, it seems plausible that the Huskies might have a bit of a chance to get a road conference win as Washington (10-10 overall, 1-8 Big Ten) will be meeting up with a team that is close to struggling just as much as UW is this season.

Meet the Minnesota Golden Gophers, who have an overall record of 11-9, but also have three times as many Big Ten wins as UW does this season (it’s worth remembering that means Minnesota has a Big Ten record of 3-6).

This is a huge opportunity for Washington and Sprinkle to finally show some life on the road in this conference. It’s also a great opportunity for the Huskies to put an end to this losing streak that has now ballooned up to six games.

Do Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies men’s basketball team have a shot to beat the Minnesota Golden Gophers on the road?

Washington has been truly awful in away games this season. So far, the Huskies are holding on to an 0-5 road record. At this point in the season, it looks like UW really needs to be in Alaska Airlines Arena to have a shot at winning.

Unfortunately for Sprinkle and his Huskies men’s basketball team, Washington won’t be in Seattle this weekend.

And that’s likely part of the reason that ESPN’s matchup predictor tool is giving the Huskies just a 31.9 percent chance of securing their first road win of the season when they meet up with Minnesota in Minneapolis.

The number crunching analytics system doesn’t seem to think too highly of the Huskies this season and it’s hard to blame it. While the Huskies have shown some promise, it seems like they haven’t really played to their full potential just yet. But that’s to be expected a bit in the first year of a rebuild.
