While this season hasn’t exactly been all that Washington Husky women’s basketball fans have hoped for, Tina Langley and the UW women’s basketball team have shown some impressive resilience in their new conference home as of late.

After some close losses against the likes of the No. 16 Maryland Terrapins, the Oregon Ducks, and the No. 6 USC Trojans, Washington bounced back and beat the Rutgers Scarlet Knights by 18 points and then followed that up by thumping the Nebraska Cornhuskers, winning on the road in Lincoln by 21 points. And right now, Washington has a 7-9 record in Big Ten play.

That’s not the best ever, but it’s pretty good for a program that is getting used to a new conference home and all of the challenges that come with that. Plus, Langley and the Huskies are still working towards reestablishing this program. So, it’s interesting to see how UW responded to that rough stretch of close losses.

Big Ten women’s basketball standings, Feb. 26: USC Trojans, UCLA Bruins currently claim top two spots of their new conference home

And now, here’s where the Huskies stand in the Big Ten officially, with the Big Ten women’s basketball standings, of course:

  • USC Trojans: 16-1 Big Ten, 25-2 overall
  • UCLA Bruins: 15-1 Big Ten, 26-1 overall
  • Ohio State Buckeyes: 12-4 Big Ten, 23-4 overall
  • Maryland Terrapins: 11-5 Big Ten, 21-6 overall
  • Illinois Fighting Illini: 11-6 Big Ten, 21-7 overall
  • Michigan Wolverines: 10-6 Big Ten, 19-8 overall
  • Michigan State Spartans: 10-6 Big Ten, 20-7 overall
  • Oregon Ducks: 10-7 Big Ten, 19-9 overall
  • Indiana Hoosiers: 9-7 Big Ten, 17-10 overall
  • Nebraska Cornhuskers: 9-8 Big Ten, 18-10 overall
  • Iowa Hawkeyes: 8-8 Big Ten, 18-9 overall
  • Minnesota Golden Gophers: 8-8 Big Ten, 20-8 overall
  • Washington Huskies: 7-9 Big Ten, 16-12 overall
  • Wisconsin Badgers: 4-12 Big Ten, 13-14 overall
  • Purdue Boilermakers: 2-14 Big Ten, 9-18 overall
  • Northwestern Wildcats: 2-15 Big Ten, 9-17 overall
  • Rutgers Scarlet Knights: 2-15 Big Ten, 10-18 overall
  • Penn State Nittany Lions: 1-15 Big Ten, 10-17 overall

If Washington can continue that momentum and find a way to upend the Minnesota Golden Gophers, they’ll be in a decent position to have a decent shot at ending this season with a respectable record. UW has shown some improvement as of late and that’s encouraging to see.
