Softball season is here and, unfortunately, the Washington Husky softball team is off to a bit of a sluggish start. In the Candrea Classic, UW ran into a few different challenges and the Huskies are now sitting at 2-3 on the season.
In the Big Ten, that’s not exactly going to be all that impressive. Especially when trying to measure up against other teams.
It’s early. Super early, in fact. And when you take a look at the 2025 Big Ten softball standings and win-loss records this early on, you’ll find that there are some former Pac-12 teams at the top. Unfortunately for UW, the Huskies aren’t there. That’s where the Oregon Ducks and UCLA Bruins sit right now.
But, it’s worth noting that conference play hasn’t exactly gotten started yet.
Sitting just below the Ducks and Bruins are the Ohio State Buckeyes with a 4-0 overall record. After that, the Indiana Hoosiers and Wisconsin Badgers both boast 4-1 overall records to round out the current top five teams in the conference.

The bad news: being 2-3 overall after just five games stinks. There’s no real other way to put it. That just kinda stinks.
The good news: it’s early. It’s SUPER early. There is absolutely no reason to panic or get worked up or freak out or anything of that nature. There is still plenty of season left for the Huskies to get all of this figured out.
The Huskies will get back to action in the Littlewood Classic in Phoenix, Arizona this coming weekend. So, here’s to hoping that things unfold better there than they did in the Candrea Classic.
