Heather Tarr and the Washington Husky softball team sure are having a bit of fun right now. After getting off to a bit of a sluggish start at the beginning of the season, UW is on an absolute hot streak as the Huskies have won 14 games in a row.

That’s *checks notes* more than two-thirds of their wins so far this season. To be exact, this thrilling win streak represents a good ole 70 percent of their total wins.

And as a result, Washington is in a pretty intriguing spot ahead of conference play. Because the Huskies will get to take on the Oregon Ducks, who are currently sitting at the top of the Big Ten standings with an overall record of 24-2.

That’s pretty impressive, folks.

Big Ten softball standings, records - March 12: Oregon Ducks and UCLA Bruins hold on to top two spots ahead of conference play

Interestingly enough, the UCLA Bruins aren’t too far behind Oregon with their own impressive overall record of 24-4. Between those two teams at the top and the Washington Huskies sit a few of the Midwest Big Ten teams.

But the Huskies are holding on to a pretty solid No. 6 spot in the very crowded and very talented Big Ten softball standings.

  • Oregon Ducks: 24-2 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • UCLA Bruins: 24-4 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Indiana Hoosiers: 18-5 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Ohio State Buckeyes: 18-5-1 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Nebraska Cornhuskers: 19-6 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Washington Huskies: 20-7 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Michigan Wolverines: 18-7 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Wisconsin Badgers: 16-8 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Iowa Hawkeyes: 14-8 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Purdue Boilermakers: 15-9 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Illinois Fighting Illini: 11-9 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Penn State Nittany Lions: 12-11 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Northwestern Wildcats: 9-9 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Maryland Terrapins: 10-11 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Rutgers Scarlet Knights: 13-15 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Minnesota Golden Gophers: 11-13 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Michigan State Spartans: 7-9 overall, 0-0 Big Ten

As a whole, Washington has a ton of opportunity ahead with this weekend’s series against the Oregon Ducks. UW can prove that this winning streak isn’t just some sort of gilded record caused by playing lower competition and the Huskies can move further up in the Big Ten standings while also causing Oregon to drop a bit. I, for one, would love to see that play out. We’ll see what happens though.
