Well, all things considered, things could be worse for the Washington Husky softball team. In their first year in the Big Ten (and it’s still super early, folks), Washington currently sits at No. 8 in the conference standings.
That’s, well, not great. But it’s not bad! When the Huskies left the Pac-12 for the Big Ten, Washington made the move from one great softball conference to another one. And so, there’s a lot of talent across this conference and a lot of opportunities for some frustrating matchups.
But, all that said, UW is right smack in the middle of the Big Ten standings. And that’s not bad. The Huskies have a really solid overall record and win percentage (23-9 and .719 respectively) and they’ve managed to win eight of their last 10 games.
There’s plenty of time for UW to really make its mark on the Big Ten this season.

It’s really interesting. Michigan and Northwestern currently lead the conference at 4-0 each, but the Oregon Ducks currently hold the best overall record at 29-3 overall. The Northwestern Wildcats, also holding a 4-0 Big Ten record, are just 14-11 on the season so far.
This conference can be pretty tough and the newcomers are finding that out. The Ducks, UCLA Bruins, and Huskies all look solid and all will face tough challenges to sustain consistent high levels of success in this new conference landscape.
