Following Friday night’s remarkable and truly dominant win over one of the worst teams in the Big Ten, where are the Washington Huskies right now? How do the Huskies stack up against the rest of the Big Ten softball teams at the moment?

Well, to be completely honest, Washington is in a pretty good spot. The Huskies are smack dab in the middle of their new conference home. Well, a little better than halfway. Washington holds the No. 7 spot out of 17 teams in the Big Ten.

Things could admittedly be a little better, but they could certainly be worse. Washington is on a six game winning streak, just beat Illinois by basically a million runs, and is set to take on the Fighting Illini once more this afternoon.

Oh, and the Big Ten is full of really, really talented teams that make it difficult to sustain success. At least at the top end of the conference, that is.

So, for the Huskies to have a chance to continue rolling, that’s great to see.

Big Ten softball standings, records - March 29: The Northwestern Wildcats lead the way in the Big Ten right now

Here’s the standings right now (expect things to continue to change moving forward, because games will be played and such):

  • Northwestern Wildcats: 6-0 Big Ten, 17-11 overall
  • Oregon Ducks: 5-1 Big Ten, 30-3 overall
  • UCLA Bruins: 5-1 Big Ten, 30-5 overall
  • Michigan Wolverines: 4-1 Big Ten, 25-9 overall
  • Nebraska Cornhuskers: 4-1 Big Ten, 24-8 overall
  • Ohio State Buckeyes: 4-1 Big Ten, 27-6-1 overall
  • Washington Huskies: 4-2 Big Ten, 26-9 overall
  • Wisconsin Badgers: 5-4 Big Ten, 21-12 overall
  • Iowa Hawkeyes: 3-3 Big Ten, 21-11 overall
  • Indiana Hoosiers: 2-3 Big Ten, 22-8 overall
  • Maryland Terrapins: 3-5 Big Ten, 15-16 overall
  • Penn State Nittany Lions: 2-5 Big Ten, 14-16 overall
  • Purdue Boilermakers: 2-5 Big Ten, 17-14 overall
  • Michigan State Spartans: 2-6 Big Ten, 10-16 overall
  • Minnesota Golden Gophers: 2-7 Big Ten, 13-20 overall
  • Illinois Fighting Illini: 1-5 Big Ten, 13-17 overall
  • Rutgers Scarlet Knights: 1-5 Big Ten, 16-20 overall

It’s really fun seeing how the former Pac-12 teams are THRIVING in the Big Ten at the moment. And Washington will have chances to continue to climb. But of course, at the moment, it’s the Northwestern Wildcats with an unblemished record in conference play to lead the way in the Big Ten.
