After taking care of business to start the 2025 OUTRIGGER Invitational (I still don’t think I understand why there’s all caps with OUTRIGGER) by beating the Jackson State Tigers, the Washington Husky softball team has the perfect opportunity to continue to build on its record and win streak as the Huskies take on two teams today.
One of the teams happens to be Jackson State. Washington will get to play Jackson State again. Hurray for a rematch against a pretty solid team that performed well but UW still showed it can beat, I guess? The other game is against Howard. Washington hasn’t played Howard yet, so we’ll get to find out more about them soon enough.
The Huskies actually get to play in 40 percent of the NCAA softball games involving Big Ten teams today. That’s kind of a cool stat, I suppose. Let’s take a look at the Big Ten softball schedule.
Big Ten softball schedule, Feb. 27: UCLA to face LSU and Notre Dame, Michigan set to meet up with Duke
Here’s what the schedule looks like and it’ll get started in Fullerton, California as the UCLA Bruins take on the LSU Tigers. Shortly thereafter, the Michigan Wolverines and Duke Blue Devils will meet up in Durham, North Carolina.
UCLA (also playing in 40 percent of the Big Ten softball games scheduled for today) will then get to meet up with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after playing LSU. No rest for the weary.

And then, capping the day off, is Washington and its games against the Bison and Tigers. The Huskies have a great shot to get to 12-7 on the season if they can get these two wins. That would be a phenomenal place for UW to be in considering how the Huskies were struggling to get this season started.
