13. Penn State Nittany Lions (3-4)

Last week's ranking: No. 12 (-1)

Last week's game: L, 25-24 vs Iowa

Contrary to UCLA, Penn State's season has completely fallen apart. Once considered a national championship contender, the Nittany Lions now have a losing record, are winless through four games in the conference, and are without their head coach and starting quarterback. They still have the talent at other positions to compete with the other middle-of-the-pack teams in the conference, but their next two games against No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Indiana could be brutal.

14. Maryland Terrapins (4-3)

Last week's ranking: No. 11 (-3)

Last week's game: L, 20-17 vs UCLA

Maryland continues to look like a very competent team with a bright future, but just can't finish the close games right now. The Terrapins are now on a three-game losing streak, with the margins of defeat in those games being just a combined 10 points. They had a lead going into the fourth quarter in all three of those contests -- a devastating stretch of endings if you're a fan of the program. Maryland has a much-needed bye this week to regroup, but have a tough one against No. 2 Indiana after that.

15. Michigan State Spartans (3-4)

Last week's ranking: No. 15

Last week's game: L, 38-13 vs No. 3 Indiana

Michigan State has failed to look competitive in Big Ten play, now 0-4 in those games. Coach Jonathan Smith has been in the hot seat for a few weeks now, and a loss in the Spartans' upcoming matchup against rival Michigan could be the nail in the coffin for his employment.

16. Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-4)

Last week’s ranking: No. 16

Last week’s game: L, 56-10 vs No. 8 Oregon

The same story goes for Rutgers, who are also winless in the Big Ten and just got blown out by Oregon at home. With matchups on the road against Illinois and Ohio State still left on their schedule, it's going to be a tough task for the Scarlet Knights to become bowl-eligible.

17. Purdue Boilermakers (2-5)

Last week's ranking: No. 17

Last week's game: L, 19-0 vs Northwestern

Purdue continues to make strides after winning just one game last season, but simply lack the talent and consistency to win games. In all of its losses, either the defense floundered, or the offense went completely silent. Against Northwestern, it was the latter, as the offense was shut out despite the defense keeping hopes alive by only allowing 19 points. At least basketball season is about to start!

18. Wisconsin Badgers (2-5)

Last week's ranking: No. 18

Last week's game: L, 34-0 vs No. 1 Ohio State

Wisconsin was shut out for its second consecutive game, with the Badgers' last 27 offensive drives being utterly laughable. As if things couldn't get worse, Washington has to face No. 6 Oregon in Autzen Stadium this Saturday. It is a miracle that coach Luke Fickell hasn't been fired yet.
