7. Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-0)
Last week's ranking: No. 8 (+1)
Last week's game: W, 68-0 vs Akron
The Cornhuskers find themselves back at the spot where they began the season, thanks to a Michigan loss and a 68-0 rout of Akron. Perhaps their slow start against Cincinnati was a fluke, as the Huskers offense proved to be lethal in its second game, albeit against one of the worst teams in the FBS. A matchup against Houston Christian coming up will be another chance to nail things down before a huge battle against Michigan.
8. Indiana Hoosiers (2-0)
Last week's ranking: No. 10 (+2)
Last week's game: W, 56-9 vs Kennesaw State
The Hoosiers also jump Michigan after they looked much better in Week 2 than they did in Week 1, both against lowly G6 opponents. One of six ranked teams in the Big Ten, No. 22 Indiana is beginning to show some promise with transfer quarterback Fernando Mendoza settling into a groove,
9. Michigan Wolverines (1-1)
Last week's ranking: No. 5 (-4)
Last week's game: L 24-13 vs No. 18 Oklahoma
The Wolverines played the only ranked matchup of the week against Oklahoma, but don't deserve much grace after how bad they looked, and as such, take a free fall in the power rankings. The final score was not as close as the game actually was, as Michigan wasn't in the game at virtually any point. Freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood looks like he isn't quite ready for the big stage, and the Wolverines as a whole still have much to improve on going forward.
10. Minnesota Golden Gophers (2-0)
Last week's ranking: No. 11 (+1)
Last week's game: W, 66-0 vs Northwestern State
Minnesota once again proves why I was probably a bit too low on them to start the season, as the Golden Gophers dominated Northwestern State from start to finish. At one point, the live odds of the game favored Minnesota by an astounding 80.5 points. This team can be a threat to some of the top dogs in the conference, as it has a good balance on offense and defense, but time will tell if it can be a true dark horse.
11. Michigan State Spartans (2-0)
Last week's ranking: No. 11
Last week's game: W, 42-40 vs Boston College
The Spartans won a close game that they easily could've lost, but hey, a win is a win against a Power Four program. That being said, I'm not too optimistic about Michigan State's outlook in Big Ten play. Its first two conference games are on the road against Nebraska and USC, which is where things could start to get ugly if the Spartans don't step it up.
12. Iowa Hawkeyes (1-1)
Last week's ranking: No. 9 (-3)
Last week's game: L, 16-13 vs No. 16 Iowa State
Speaking of ugly, Iowa's offense looked pitiful against rival Iowa State in the Cy-Hawk matchup. Quarterback Mark Gronowski had high hopes going into the season, but back-to-back games with under 100 passing yards and a 53.8 completion percentage has Hawkeyes' fans feeling extremely disappointed. The defense still looks good, but this is starting to look like another typical Iowa season, which is becoming less and less formidable in a revamped Big Ten.
