Big Ten men’s basketball standings: Can Washington Huskies escape bottom of Big Ten?

Time is running out if we’re going to see Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies men’s basketball team get away from the absolute bottom of the Big Ten standings. Yes, it should absolutely be considered that this is a rebuilding season and I think Sprinkle and the Huskies deserve plenty of leeway here, but I would still appreciate it if they weren’t at the absolute bottom of the barrel here.

I don’t think that’s too much to ask for, right? Maybe it is, I don’t know. 

Anyway, looking around at the current landscape of the Big Ten basketball season and it’s pretty intriguing to see the way the conference has shaped up at this point in the season. The Michigan rivals sit at the top of the league as both the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans boast 13-3 conference play records. 

That’s pretty impressive. Let’s take a look at the Big Ten standings heading into tonight’s slate of games. 

Big Ten men’s basketball standings, Feb. 25: Washington Huskies really need a win to get away from the bottom of the conference

Here’s what the Big Ten basketball standings look like right now as the Washington Huskies get set to take on the Wisconsin Badgers. 

  • Michigan Wolverines: 13-3 Big Ten, 21-6 Overall
  • Michigan State Spartans: 13-3 Big Ten, 22-5 Overall
  • Maryland Terrapins: 11-5 Big Ten, 21-6 Overall
  • Wisconsin Badgers: 11-5 Big Ten, 21-6 Overall
  • Purdue Boilermakers: 11-6 Big Ten, 19-9 Overall
  • UCLA Bruins: 11-6 Big Ten, 20-8 Overall
  • Illinois Fighting Illini: 9-8 Big Ten, 17-11 Overall
  • Oregon Ducks: 9-8 Big Ten, 20-8 Overall
  • Indiana Hoosiers: 7-9 Big Ten, 16-11 Overall
  • Nebraska Cornhuskers: 7-10 Big Ten, 17-11 Overall

Sitting not too far behind Michigan and Michigan State are the Maryland Terrapins and Wisconsin Badgers who boast identical 11-5 conference records. And interestingly enough, both of those teams are great at home. Maryland is 8-0, perfect at home, while Wisconsin is 13-2 in home games. 

So, uh, that’ll be fun for the Huskies to consider as they go to Madison, Wisconsin tonight. Fun stuff, you know?
