Hey, it’s nice to talk about Danny Sprinkle and his Washington Huskies basketball team getting conference wins. It’s also just flat out nice to talk about the Washington Husky men’s basketball team finding a way to get a win. That’s nice and enjoyable and I, for one, am fully on board with us doing more of that.
And following Washington's latest win, (and the recent and extended struggles from the Penn State Nittany Lions) the Huskies aren’t at the bottom of the Big Ten anymore. UW is moving up in the world. Incrementally, at least.
That’s a great feeling.
Big Ten basketball standings: Washington Huskies sneak past Penn State Nittany Lions to escape very bottom of conference standings
Here’s what the Big Ten men’s basketball standings look like after Washington’s win against the Wildcats. Thankfully, UW has found a way to escape the very bottom of the Big Ten basketball standings. It’s a step in the right direction and it should be enjoyed, folks.
- Purdue Boilermakers (11-2 Big Ten, 19-5 Overall)
- Michigan State Spartans (10-2 Big Ten, 19-4 Overall)
- Michigan Wolverines (10-2 Big Ten, 18-5 Overall)
- Wisconsin Badgers (9-4 Big Ten, 19-5 Overall)
- UCLA Bruins (9-4 Big Ten, 18-6 Overall)
- Maryland Terrapins (8-5 Big Ten, 18-6 Overall)
- Illinois Fighting Illini (8-6 Big Ten, 16-8 Overall)
- Nebraska Cornhuskers (6-7 Big Ten, 16-8 Overall)
- Ohio State Buckeyes (6-7 Big Ten, 14-10 Overall)
- USC Trojans (5-7 Big Ten, 13-10 Overall)
- Oregon Ducks (5-8 Big Ten, 16-8 Overall)
- Indiana Hoosiers (5-8 Big Ten, 14-10 Overall)
- Rutgers Scarlet Knights (5-8 Big Ten, 12-12 Overall)
- Iowa Hawkeyes (4-8 Big Ten, 13-10 Overall)
- Northwestern Wildcats (4-9 Big Ten, 13-11 Overall)
- Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-9 Big Ten, 12-12 Overall)
- Washington Huskies (3-9 Big Ten, 12-11 Overall)
- Penn State Nittany Lions (3-10 Big Ten, 13-11 Overall)
And what’s great about this is there’s still a chance that Washington can build upon this win-loss record to move up a bit more in the Big Ten. But, it’s worth noting that there is absolutely no guarantee that will happen.
The Huskies will get back to action later this week when UW meets up with the Ohio State Buckeyes. And while Ohio State isn’t the greatest team ever, the Buckeyes aren’t just going to be a pushover for UW to beat. Especially on the road in Columbus.
