Eddie Smith and the Washington Huskies are heading to San Francisco in search of their first road win of the season. While on the surface it’s a little concerning that UW is currently 0-5 on the road this early in the season (including a four-game losing streak), it’s important to remember that those four recent losses and four of those road losses are at the hands of a really good Stanford Cardinal team.
Still, the upcoming Washington Husky baseball game against the San Francisco Dons presents Smith and UW with a great chance to get a little momentum before heading into a tough weekend in Las Vegas as part of the Las Vegas Classic.
Washington is currently sitting just one spot above last place in the 17-team Big Ten baseball standings. That’s, uh, less than ideal, especially when considering that the UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans are both 7-1 on the season and tied for second in the Big Ten standings at the moment.
It’s still SUPER early in the season, but Washington could really use a road win. Here’s to hoping that happens today.

A win today for UW doesn’t exactly resolve all of the issues that the Huskies are facing. And at the same time it’s also still worth remembering that Washington is fresh off a road series against one of the toughest teams in the country right now. That context is important to remember.
But man, UW really needs a win here. And is it wrong for me to hope for losses for the UCLA Bruins and Indiana Hoosiers? I don’t think that’s wrong.
Anyway, with any of these three games, you’ll need to check your phone for updates or stream it on your laptop and hope your boss doesn’t catch you. None of these games are night games for folks out on the West Coast.
