The Nebraska Cornhuskers haven’t had much football fun in this millenia. It’s safe to say it’s been more than just a few years since the University of Nebraska has achieved what it’s wanted to on the gridiron. There have been a few years worth bragging a little about, but nothing near the sort of status that they held back in the 1990’s.

And so, the Huskers are hoping that their newest head coach might be able to get them moving in the right direction as a program. Scott Frost wasn’t the answer for the folks in Lincoln. Neither was Mike Riley or Bo Pelini. But maybe Matt Rhule will be just what Nebraska needs to reestablish itself as a program.

Rhule successfully rebuilt the Baylor Bears following a massive scandal that led to the end of Art Briles’ tenure in Waco. He’s also proven that he can succeed at a place like Temple with the Owls. He didn’t work out in the NFL, but the Huskers were willing to pay Rhule a ton of money to move to the Midwest to try to get their football team going in the right direction.

Just how much money does Rhule make? Well… A rather substantial sum.

What is Nebraska Cornhuskers’ head coach Matt Rhule’s salary in 2024?

When the Huskers got Rhule, they signed him to a massive deal that has him making $6.5 million this year. It’s safe to say he makes a bit more than minimum wage and he’s one of the highest paid head coaches in the country.

Which, he’s yet to demonstrate the results on the field in Lincoln, but it feels like they’re starting to build momentum. That said, Rhule has won just 11 games. And he’s been paid over $12 million for that. Being a head coach in the Big Ten pays pretty well, folks.

But! It’s worth noting that Nebraska is going back to a bowl game for the first time in the better part of a decade. Rhule has a lot to prove, but he’s moving this team slowly back in the way that Husker fans want it to go.
