Big Ten baseball standings, records: Washington struggling following loss to Stanford

The past couple of games against an old Pac-12 pal haven’t exactly been what Washington Husky baseball fans could have wanted. As Eddie Smith and the UW baseball team have met up with the Stanford Cardinal in Palo Alto, the Huskies have fallen short in both contests so far.

And while Big Ten baseball conference play has yet to start, Washington’s record currently stands among the worst in the conference. And that doesn’t exactly inspire a ton of confidence, to be completely honest.

Meanwhile, the Michigan State Spartans, Purdue Boilermakers, and USC Trojans all boast unblemished records to get the season started. None of them have lost a single game. That’s pretty impressive, to be completely honest.

Big Ten baseball standings and records, Feb. 22, 2025: Michigan State, Purdue, and USC all boast unblemished records

Let’s take a look at the Big Ten baseball standings and records and see how everyone stacks up so far. The Trojans currently have the best record (of course, this is not conference play, so the standings don’t really matter quite yet) at 6-0.

Michigan State and Purdue aren’t exactly far behind. Both the Spartans and the Boilermakers have done well in neutral-site contests lately and both are 5-0 right now.

Here’s what the conference, as a whole, looks like at the moment:

  • USC Trojans (6-0 overall)
  • Michigan State Spartans (5-0 overall)
  • Purdue Boilermakers (5-0 overall)
  • UCLA Bruins (5-1 overall)
  • Penn State Nittany Lions (4-1 overall)
  • Illinois Fighting Illini (3-1 overall)
  • Northwestern Wildcats (3-1 overall)
  • Michigan Wolverines (4-2 overall)
  • Oregon Ducks (4-2 overall)
  • Maryland Terrapins (3-2 overall)
  • Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-4 overall)
  • Iowa Hawkeyes (2-3 overall)
  • Rutgers Scarlet Knights (2-3 overall)
  • Washington Huskies (2-4 overall)
  • Minnesota Golden Gophers (1-4 overall)
  • Ohio State Buckeyes (1-4 overall)
  • Indiana Hoosiers (0-4 overall)

I don’t love that the Huskies are sitting near the bottom of the conference at the moment. I really don’t like that UW is the worst among the Big Ten’s West Coast newcomers. That isn’t fun! But I guess we can at least take a little comfort in knowing that Washington isn’t Indiana right now. That’s great, right?

There’s also still plenty of the 2025 college baseball season ahead of us. These standings and records will almost certainly change in some pretty big ways.
