I, for one, would greatly appreciate it if the Washington Huskies found a way to avoid collapsing down the stretch of a game. If the Washington Husky baseball team could do that, then they might have a solid win against the Stanford Cardinal to talk about right now.
Heck, we could be talking about UW having a shot to split a four-game series with one of the most intriguing teams in the country. But instead, we’re talking about how Stanford still doesn’t have a loss and UW has one of the worst records in the Big Ten.
That’s not fun, if you ask me.
The Big Ten’s baseball landscape looks pretty interesting at the moment. The new additions to the league are making things fun to keep up with. Except Washington, that is. I don’t like that fact, but Washington’s baseball record just ain’t all that great right now. Meanwhile, UCLA and USC are both 6-1 on the season and Oregon is 6-2.
I, for one, would really like UW to start winning some more baseball games.
Big Ten baseball standings and records, Feb. 23, 2025: Purdue still holds an unblemished record, which is cool for them, I guess
Here’s what the Big Ten records and standings look like after Sunday’s slate of games. Spoiler alert, the Washington Husky baseball team isn’t in a great spot right now.
- Purdue Boilermakers (8-0)
- Michigan State Spartans (6-1)
- UCLA Bruins (6-1)
- USC Trojans (6-1)
- Northwestern Wildcats (5-1)
- Penn State Nittany Lions (5-1)
- Oregon Ducks (6-2)
- Illinois Fighting Illini (4-2)
- Michigan Wolverines (4-3)
- Iowa Hawkeyes (3-3)
- Maryland Terrapins (3-3)
- Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-4)
- Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-4)
- Indiana Hoosiers (2-4)
- Minnesota Golden Gophers (2-4)
- Washington Huskies (2-5)
- Ohio State Buckeyes (1-5)
As of right now, the Purdue Boilermakers are the last unbeaten team in the Big Ten. That’s not really what I expected at this point in the season, but here we are. Purdue sits at the top of the Big Ten with an 8-0 record.
Michigan State, UCLA, and USC all come in just behind Purdue, tied for second best in the conference with identical 6-1 records. The Northwestern Wildcats and Penn State Nittany Lions both boast 5-1 records while Oregon isn’t far behind with a 6-2 record.
And then you have a bunch of teams with either four wins or three wins or four losses. After that cluster of lower middle class Big Ten baseball teams you’ll find the Washington Huskies at 2-5 and the Ohio State Buckeyes at 1-5.
