Big Ten baseball standings, Feb. 26: UCLA, USC sit just behind Purdue Boilermakers

It’s so weird to see the Purdue Boilermakers boasting an unblemished record. And in some ways, it’s still a little weird to see the UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans baseball teams in the Big Ten. And as the Big Ten standings sit right now, those three teams are at the top of the conference.

Well, that’s because there hasn’t been a single conference game played just yet. The two teams out of Los Angeles and the Boilermakers have the best overall records in the conference. After a few Tuesday night midweek games, USC and UCLA added on to their records.

There really hasn’t been a lot of change in the Big Ten baseball standings after yesterday’s slate of games.

Big Ten baseball standings, Feb. 26: Can the Washington Huskies snap their losing streak with a midweek win?

We haven’t played a single Big Ten conference game just yet, but here’s what the Big Ten baseball standings look like as the Washington Huskies (and the rest of the conference) get set to play some midweek baseball games:

  • Purdue Boilermakers: 8-0 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • UCLA Bruins: 7-1 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • USC Trojans: 7-1 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Michigan State Spartans: 6-1 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Penn State Nittany Lions: 5-1 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Oregon Ducks: 6-2 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Illinois Fighting Illini: 5-2 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Northwestern Wildcats: 5-2 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Michigan Wolverines: 4-3 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Iowa Hawkeyes: 3-3 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Rutgers Scarlet Knights: 4-4 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Indiana Hoosiers: 3-4 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Maryland Terrapins: 3-4 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Nebraska Cornhuskers: 3-4 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Minnesota Golden Gophers: 2-4 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Washington Huskies: 2-6 overall, 0-0 Big Ten
  • Ohio State Buckeyes: 1-5 overall, 0-0 Big Ten

The Huskies have a tough weekend ahead of them, a weekend in Las Vegas as part of the Las Vegas Classic that actually includes a meeting with the Illinois Fighting Illini. And it’d be great to see a sign of life from UW ahead of this weekend. I, for one, would appreciate it if Washington was 3-6 overall by the time today is over.
