The 2025 college baseball season is finally upon us, folks! In the Big Ten, 17 teams are getting their seasons started up as the conference now exists in a coast-to-coast state. The expanded footprint of the Big Ten will be felt as the UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks, and Washington Huskies get going today as well.
In fact, the Big Ten’s slate of games are happening all over the place.
For Washington, things will get started early as the Huskies and their new head coach, Eddie Smith, face the Kansas State Wildcats in Conway, South Carolina at 8:30 a.m. PT. Shortly thereafter, the Michigan Wolverines will face the Virginia Cavaliers in Puerto Rico while the Nebraska Cornhuskers take on UC Irvine in Arizona.
There’s a lot of travel that’s happening to get this season started.

Again, that’s a lot of travel. The 17 Big Ten baseball teams will be competing in 10 different states (and also Puerto Rico, shoutout to Puerto Rico). It’ll be fascinating to see how everything plays out for the Big Ten (both today and also this season as a whole). The conference isn’t necessarily known for baseball prowess, but today’s slate of games gives the conference a chance to make a statement early on.
