‘Appreciate our fans Friday night’: Washington Huskies appreciate Senior Night crowd
By Ethan Lee
Another season of Washington Huskies football, another season full of home games that the Washington Huskies simply did not lose. Friday night, during a Senior Night celebration (and also a World of Warcraft-branded game), the Washington Huskies were able to snag their 20th home win in a row.
That’s a home winning streak that dates back a couple seasons now and spans two coaching eras on Montlake.
That’s a lot to take note of.
And while the Washington Huskies do have a pretty notable game up ahead on the horizon against a pretty notable rival, Jedd Fisch and the Huskies are certainly still keeping this game (and what this win means) as something to focus on and celebrate for a moment.
“We'll have these next 13 days to prepare for the No. 1 team in the country and uh we're looking forward to that,” Fisch said in his postgame press conference. “But, we’ll spend our time right now celebrating what I thought was a great home win for our team.”
That’s pretty cool to see. It does help that UW has a bye week between the win vs. UCLA and the upcoming road trip to Oregon, but still, this rocks that Fisch would celebrate this one.
Enjoy the little things in life, you know?

And one thing Fisch certainly isn’t taking for granted? The support of the Washington Husky fans that showed up to Husky Stadium on Friday evening.
“Appreciate our fans Friday night, I know it's a little bit more challenging at times and for them to show up like they did,” Fisch explained. “Full house, great crowd, great energy.”
It’s pretty evident that the Washington Huskies have one of the most intense home crowds in college football when the Greatest Setting in College Football is full. While that wasn’t the case on Friday, the Huskies still seemed to have a bit of a home field advantage over the visiting UCLA Bruins.
And now Fisch and the Huskies will look to carry that sort of home game momentum forward into next year.
“To be six and 0 at home [this season, with a] 20-game [home] win streak, pretty amazing,” Fisch said. “Looking forward to taking that win streak into next season and we certainly will continue on playing at that level at home.”
If the Huskies can continue to build this program in the way that Fisch wants (and it looks like they can), then we’re sure to see some more home wins tacked onto that home winning streak next season.
