There are a number of different challenges that the Washington Huskies will face in 2025. Part of being in the Big Ten means competing against some of the toughest teams in the country. As such, the Oregon Ducks, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Michigan Wolverines are all on UW’s 2025 schedule. But there are some other potential challenges as well.
The 2025 Washington football schedule has the potential to feature a few unexpected sorts of problems. Washington kind of experienced that a bit in 2024 when Jedd Fisch and the Huskies lost to teams like Rutgers and Washington State.
Those sorts of traps could potentially exist on Washington’s schedule once more. Let’s take a look at some of the teams that could present problems to the Huskies this coming season.
What trap games could Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies run into in 2025?
Right now, I think there are three potential trap games up ahead for Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies.
No. 3: Heading to UCLA late in the season
The UCLA Bruins actually presented a bit of a challenge for the Washington Huskies in their last matchup and while there’s certainly a chance that UW is a better team this coming season, there’s always a chance that UCLA is also improved. Also, the timing of this could be a bit tricky. It’s right before the Oregon Ducks come to Husky Stadium. If UW is overlooking UCLA, that could be an issue.
No. 2: A home challenge from the Rutgers Scarlet Knights
This game could flat out just be an issue because Rutgers was a tough team to take on last year. UW lost 21-18 in 2024 when the two met up in New Jersey and Washington had all sorts of issues slowing the Rutgers’ rushing attack. Given that this game comes just one week before the Huskies’ trip to take on the Michigan Wolverines, I’m not a huge fan of the timing of this game.
No. 1: The timing for taking a road trip to Maryland truly stinks
I, for one, don’t love that the Washington Huskies will be taking a road trip all the way to face the Maryland Terrapins just one week out from facing the defending national champs. Meeting up with the Ohio State Buckeyes the week before this contest could be a huge problem for the Huskies. Also, you know, Maryland has just had some really exciting offenses lately.
