Danny Sprinkle and the Washington Huskies are having an interesting first season together (and interesting first season in the Big Ten). Things are off to a decent start as UW has compiled an 8-3 record, but the Huskies have lost in both of their conference games up to this point. That said, someone Washington didn’t lose to? The Washington State Cougars, a team UW beat by 26 points.

It’s always fun to get a rivalry win and it’s always good for the Huskies to get said rivalry wins in convincing fashion. Which, that’s exactly what happened when the Huskies secured an 89-73 win over Washington State on Wednesday.

There were several impressive things that happened in this contest, as is the case when a team beats another by 26 points, but there were a few incredibly noteworthy stats for the Huskies from this victory over the Cougars.

Let’s go over a few of them.

Washington Huskies vs. Washington State Cougars: 3 impressive stats from rivalry win

No. 1: Washington shooting 60 percent from the field in the second half

While Washington was decent at shooting in the first half (shoutout to the 40.63 percent shooting percentage), things were significantly better in the second half as the Huskies hit on 60 percent of their shots down the stretch to wrap the game up.

It’d be great if the Huskies could have that sort of shooting efficiency in just about every game, but hey, we’ll take what we can get. And we got it in the second half of this rivalry matchup with Washington State. It was a huge reason as to why the Huskies were able to go on a 14-2 run just after halftime and it’s a huge reason as to why the Huskies won this game in a fairly dominant fashion.

No. 2: Scoring 24 points off of turnovers vs. the Cougars

I, for one, am a huge fan of Washington forcing a ton of turnovers in a game. Great defense helps secure fun wins, in my opinion. And the Huskies did a great job of forcing 22 turnovers from the Washington State Cougars. Wazzu was sloppy. The Huskies weren’t. It played a huge role in this game turning out the way it did.

Especially because on those 22 turnovers from Washington State, the Huskies managed to score 24 points. Which is significant. Especially when you stack it up against how WSU forced seven turnovers but only managed to get four points from them.

No. 3: Six different Huskies managed to get into double digits scoring against Washington State

The Huskies should feel proud of the fact that they were able to get so many members of their team so heavily involved in this game. All five of the starters got out on the court and scored in the double digits against the Cougars.

DJ Davis scored 21, Mekhi Mason scored 15, Tyler Harris had 14, Great Osobor had 13, Tyree Ihenacho had 12, and then Zoom Diallo added another 12 points from the bench. Washington was able to get some decent ball movement as the Huskies got just about everyone involved and racked up 18 assists in this game. Not bad.
