The Washington Huskies will get a pretty smooth start to the 2025 college football season as their schedule starts out in a pretty manageable manner. First and foremost, there’s the Colorado State Rams coming to Seattle to meet up with the Huskies. But that game is pretty winnable.
After that, Washington will get an even more winnable contest as the UC Davis football team will be in Seattle in early September to play Jedd Fisch’s Washington Huskies football team. It’s an early season matchup that should allow the Huskies to get the remainder of the offseason rust off before getting into games against more challenging foes.
On September 6, Fisch and the Huskies will welcome UC Davis to Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium and it’s happening at a pretty intriguing time.
When will the Washington Huskies face UC Davis football during the 2025 college football season?
This game is sandwiched between the season opener against Colorado State, a team that likely won’t put up too much of a challenge against UW given the talent differential that exists here, and the Apple Cup against the Washington State Cougars (yeah, it’s still going to take a bit more time getting used to early season Apple Cup matchups).
And while the Wazzu game will be getting plenty of attention in the first quarter of Washington’s football season, it’s worth remembering that the Cougars are working on rebuilding their roster and assembling their coaching staff after a notable change in Pullman.
Still, it’s a rivalry game and Washington will need to take that seriously. Especially after Washington State won in a close (and frustrating) manner this past season.
So, the UC Davis game. It will give Washington even more reps to get ready for the Apple Cup. After taking on Colorado State in week one, this week two matchup should allow for Fisch and the Huskies to try out a few plays, get some backup players off the bench, and prep for a rivalry matchup.
