With Jedd Fisch and the Washington Husky football team getting the 2025 college football season started at home instead of on a neutral site or in another team’s stadium, it’s going to be a few weeks into the UW football schedule before the Huskies hit the road.
But it won’t be that long, all things considered. The Washington Huskies' first road game of the 2025 college football season will take place when UW gets to take on the Washington State Cougars in Pullman for the 2025 edition of the Apple Cup.
And, folks, it’s important to remember that the Apple Cup isn’t a conference rivalry anymore. Washington left for the Big Ten and Washington State is still in the Pac-12. Which is part of why this game is now so early in the season.
Washington will travel to Pullman for the Apple Cup on September 20, 2025. So, week four of the college football season. A few weeks in, but it’s really not like the Huskies will get a ton of games at home in the front half of their schedule.
When will the Washington Huskies play their first road game during their 2025 football schedule?
Before taking to the road to meet up with Washington State, UW will get the season started with a couple of home games as they kick the season off on August 30 against the Colorado State Rams and then host the UC Davis Aggies on September 6.
A brief rest during a bye week on September 13 is what separates Washington’s first couple of games from the first road trip of the Huskies 2025 football schedule.
With the way the early part of Washington’s schedule is set up, the Huskies will have a chance to warm up, shake some of the rust off, and get fully prepared to take on the Cougars in the Apple Cup. And then, with the timing of the Apple Cup coming before Washington’s matchup with the Ohio State Buckeyes, UW will get some time to acclimate before taking on the defending national champs.
