Arguably the toughest game on the 2025 Washington Husky football schedule, Ryan Day and the defending national champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes, are set to come to Seattle to meet up with Jedd Fisch and the UW football team pretty early in the season.

Washington, for the second season in a row, will get to host the defending national title holders. Interestingly enough, the last two teams to win the national championship happen to be rivals. There’s something odd about that. Like when Alabama and Auburn did it in 2009 and 2010. Or Mississippi State baseball and Ole Miss baseball in 2021 and 2022.

We’re getting off topic. Let’s get back to the main point of this.

Last season Washington hosted the Michigan Wolverines (and subsequently beat them) in Husky Stadium. This coming season, UW will welcome the Ohio State Buckeyes to Alaska Airlines Field and Husky Stadium on September 27, 2025.

When will the Washington Huskies host the Ohio State Buckeyes during the 2025 UW football season?

There’s a statement in there somewhere about how tough the Big Ten is these days. But hey, this is what Washington wanted. This is what Washington gets. In its fourth game of the season (week five), UW will get the chance to try and upset the Buckeyes in Husky Stadium.

At least this game is at home, right?

The timing of this is interesting (and kind of challenging) as well. Washington will play Ohio State after going to Pullman to face the Washington State Cougars and two weeks after taking a break for a bye week.

I, for one, would prefer it if the Apple Cup was in week three and that bye week was right before against the Buckeyes. But, well, that’s not how life works.

That said, it’ll be good for UW to meet up with Wazzu when the Huskies do because that will give Washington even more reps and chances to get Demond Williams Jr. ready to take on the likes of the Buckeyes and the other Big Ten teams on the schedule.
