One of the more interesting games that Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies football team will take on this season is the matchup between Bret Bielema’s Illinois Fighting Illini and Fisch’s UW Huskies. I really don’t think this game will get the sort of attention it deserves and I hope that I’m wrong there because I suspect this could be one of the more entertaining games in late October.

This game will wrap up a pretty challenging October stretch of games for Fisch and the Huskies while also kicking off a late season stretch of games that should allow for UW to get some wins and improve its record a bit.

But, some of that might depend on what happens against Illinois, a team that likes playing a physical, defense-dominated brand of football that longtime Big Ten football fans are sure to recognize with ease. And with Bielema at the helm, this Illinois football team is showing some very real potential. This is not a group that anyone can take lightly.

After all, Bielema and the Fighting Illini just won 10 games this past season.

When will the Washington Huskies face off against the Illinois Fighting Illini during the 2025 college football season?

On October 25, 2025, Washington will welcome the Illinois Fighting Illini to Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium. And one intriguing note about this game that could make it pretty difficult is that it comes just one week after a road trip to Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines.

So… It could be something of a trap game! And I don’t necessarily love that! But, I am appreciative of the fact that this game will take place in Seattle. There’s no reason to believe that that fact won’t help UW out a bit.

And if the Huskies can make it through this game, then they’ll get a brief bit of rest before trying to wrap their season up. No pressure or anything. Just try to win and survive, you know?
