Jake Browning leads Cincinnati Bengals to victory over Jacksonville on Monday Night Football
Former Washington Huskies QB, Jake Browning, seized the moment as he stepped into the limelight for the Cincinnati Bengals to take down the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football.
Jake Browning was tasked with becoming the Bengals starting QB after Joe Burrow went down with a season-ending wrist injury. He took the opportunity to heart and his standout night against the Jaguars saw him complete 32 out of 37 passes for 354 yards and two total touchdowns. This victory keeps the Bengals in the playoff hunt.
Browning etched his name in Washington football history by becoming the first true freshman to start for the Huskies, a position he held throughout his four-year collegiate career.
During his time in college, he exhibited remarkable prowess, amassing over 12,000 passing yards and delivering an impressive tally of 94 touchdowns, solidifying his reputation as a standout quarterback.
One of Browning’s notable achievements includes leading the Huskies to a coveted College Football Playoff appearance in 2016 where they eventually fell to Alabama 24-7.
His professional journey began with the Minnesota Vikings, where he signed as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He spent two years with the Vikings before he eventually found himself with the Cincinnati Bengals, navigating between their practice squad and active roster.
While his skill set may not entirely align with the prototypical NFL quarterback, Jake Browning’s success as a stand-in for the injured Burrow speaks volumes about his resilience and readiness to step up when called upon. He’s certainly had enough time to study the game. Maybe this will earn Browning more opportunities in the future.
