The college football transfer portal officially opened today, with a number of players declaring they would enter. Quarterbacks are always hot property when they enter the portal and Mississippi State QB Will Rogers is one of those names. Could he be on his way to Washington for the 2024 season?

It’s only been a few hours since the college football transfer portal opened. However, we have seen a high amount of players declare they have entered the portal. A decent amount of those players are from the quarterback position.

One of those quarterbacks is Mississippi State’s Will Rogers. Rogers declared his interest in entering the portal a few days after the loss to Ole Miss.

One of the teams who appear to be interested in acquiring the services of Will Rogers is the Washington Huskies.

Could Will Rogers transfer to Washington?

With the likelihood that current starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr heads to the NFL after the college football playoffs are over, the Huskies will need a strong starting quarterback. They already have redshirt junior Dylan Morris and four-star QB Austin Mack on the roster.

Kalen DeBoer will be looking to add another body into the quarterback room to add competition. Will Rogers brings a high level of experience as a four-year starter with the Bulldogs.

Washington has been logged as a “heavy favorite” to land Will Rogers by 247sports national recruiting analyst Chris Hummer.

In his four seasons with Mississippi State, Rogers threw for 12,315 passing yards and 94 touchdowns. He would fit well into the Washington offensive scheme, having a background in an air raid scheme before this season.

It would be a good move for Will Rogers to land with a head coach like Kalen DeBoer. Michael Penix Jr has benefited to no end in the DeBoer system, something that Rogers would love to have before potentially heading to the NFL.

Hot. Huskies will play Texas in the Sugar Bowl. light
