The College Football Network announced their preseason Pac-12 honors and Washington football had a number of players who made the list.

In the preseason CFN Pac-12 team honors for 2023, Washington football edge rusher Bralen Trice was selected as the defensive player of the year. Trice was also named defensive lineman of the year while making the first-team All-Pac-12 defense. Trice didn’t just clean up in the Pac-12 honors, he also made the preseason All-American second-team.

First-round 2024 NFL Draft hopeful Rome Odunze was the only other player to make the All-American team. Odunze made it onto the first-team alongside Marvin Harrison Jr. and Xavier Worthy. The 6’3” Odunze also scooped the Pac-12 wide receiver of the year, while making the preseason first-team All-Pac-12 team.

Both Bralen Trice and Rome Odunze are stand-out players for Washington going into the 2023 season. Odunze will likely make it onto the Biletnikoff watch list, which honors the best Wide receivers in college football. Likewise, Trice will be hoping to do the same with the Ted Hendricks awards, which honors the best defensive end in the country. Both players should be announced as nominees in a week or so’s time.

Other players who made the CFN preseason shortlist on offense were WR Jalen McMillan and OT Troy Fautanu. Both players made the second-team All-Pac-12 offense. McMillan will also have one eye on the Biletnikoff watch list when announced before the season kicks off.

WRJa’Lynn Polk, RB Dillon Johnson, and OT Roger Rosengarten all had honorable mentions on offense.

On the defensive side of the ball, Zion Tupuola-Fetui (ZTF), Jabbar Muhammad, Tuli Letuligasenoa, and Asa Turner all joined Bralen Trice on the preseason All-Pac-12 defense honors list. ZTF and Oklahoma State transfer Muhammed made the second-team, while Letuligasenoa and Turner made the third-team. Linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio made the honorable mentions.

With three out of four of Washington’s defensive line making the top three teams, they also managed to scoop the Pac-12 defensive line of the year.

Of course, they are just preseason honors. However, it shows the talent that Washington football has on its roster is being recognized by the media. Hopefully, more of the team can push their names on the list by the end of the 2023 season.
