Washington football has had two weeks since their loss to the California Golden Bears to re-evaluate their battle plan for the season. Yet they came into Saturday evening’s game against the UCLA Bruins looking the same as they have all season—pathetic, embarrassing, and boring.

It’s difficult to watch the Husky offense underperform considering the array of talent that they have at wide receiver and running back. Eight weeks into the season and offensive coordinator John Donovan continues to have the Huskies run an inefficient offense.

At the beginning of the season, it felt like quarterback Dylan Morris was the main issue with Washington’s offense until it became clear that the offensive play-calling was the problem. Now, it looks like both are holding the Huskies back.

I will give some credit to the coaches as they have done a better job at getting the wide receivers more involved. However, at this point, Morris is missing throws that he should be making.

Fans have been calling for five-star freshman Sam Huard to replace Morris as the starter since Week 1, yet head coach Jimmy Lake was once against quick to shut that idea down following the match-up against the Bruins.

Looking ahead at Washington football’s remaining games on their schedule, it feels realistic to say that they can win a max of three out of the six games. I would be shocked if they managed to win more than that.

The Huskies have still have a chance for a Bowl game if they can win against Arizona, Stanford, and Colorado. Arizona has yet to win a game this season and they are averaging 14 points a game. This past week, the Wildcats were shut out 34-0 by Colorado.

Stanford has a record of 2-3 in the Pac-12 conference while Colorado is 1-2.

No matter how many more games Washington can manage to win, this season is a loss. When the season comes to an end, the Washington football program is going to have a lot of re-evaluating to do.
