Washington football has the nation’s top two wide receivers within their recruiting grasp for the 2021 cycle, can they pull them both in?

Since Junior Adams got to campus, he’s been one of Washington football’s best recruiters, landing Puka Nacua, Jalen McMillan, Rome Odunze, and Sawyer Racanelli. Now, can Adams one-up himself in 2021 by landing Troy Franklin and Emeka Egbuka, the nation’s top two wide receivers?

Franklin’s high school, Menlo-Atherton (Calif.) produced two Husky commits in the 2019 class in Daniel Heimuli and Noa Ngalu. The Huskies have always had major end roads in California, but maybe now more than ever after securing McMillan, another highly rated Northern California prospect in the 2020 class.

Franklin has the Huskies coming at him from all sides, as he plays with 2021 five-star Husky commit Sam Huard on Ford Sports Performance’s 7on7 team. Franklin clearly wants to stay on the west coast, as his top 11 list only includes four schools that aren’t in the Pac-12 (Alabama, LSU, Texas, and Tennessee).

McMillan also is probably Franklin’s top recruiter through the process, as both have played with Huard at FSP, and McMillan is huge on representing the Northern California area. Pairing those two would be a dream for Husky fans, and any quarterback that gets to throw them the ball.

It’s always great to add a five-star receiver, but the Huskies have the potential to add two in 2021. Emeka Egbuka, the #1 athlete in the country, who could probably start at cornerback, safety, or wide receiver at any college program in the country as a junior in high school, is right down the road in Steilacoom.

Egbuka has arguably the best footwork in high school football, regardless of position, and pairing him with Franklin, along with all the other highly rated talent in the room could turn the Huskies into the nation’s best passing offense, no matter who’s at the helm.

With all the talent Washington has at the wide receiver position, it’s hard to not draw comparisons to Clemson, who over the last six years have pumped out Sammy Watkins, Deandre Hopkins, Martavis Bryant, Mike Williams, and Tee Higgins. With the way, Adams can develop talent, plus the quarterback talent that Washington has, nothing is stopping them from achieving Clemson’s level of prowess at the wide receiver position, the only question is, can they seal the deal?

Adams has a reputation at the NFL level, as he developed Cooper Kupp during his time at Eastern Washington, and with what Kupp has done during his time in the NFL, plus the education that the players can earn at Washington, he should have a great sales pitch to bring to two of the nation’s best players.
