Washington football is coming off of their best defensive performance of the season at Oregon State, how will they fare after the bye week?

After their second bye of the season, Washington football should be rolling into Colorado well-rested, and on a high note after the defense pitched a shutout in Corvallis. If the offense can get rolling, they should be able to beat the Buffaloes pretty handily, but you never know which Husky offense is going to show up.

The Buffaloes are led by senior quarterback Steven Montez. Last year at Husky Stadium, the Buffaloes lost 27-13, and Montez didn’t have the best of days, throwing just one touchdown.

The Huskies are hoping to limit the Colorado offense just like they did at Oregon State two weeks ago, when they held the Beavers to 119 total yards. Sophomore Alex Fontenot is a new test for the Husky defense, as they didn’t get to see him last season.

Senior Tony Brown and junior Laviska Shenault are the Buffaloes’ two top receivers. Brown leads with 51 receptions and five touchdowns while Shenault Jr has 45 catches and three touchdowns. In last year’s matchup, Shenault didn’t play due to an injury, and Brown had two receptions for -3 yards.

Colorado is hoping to continue the defense they played against Stanford, where they gave up only 13 points. That snapped a streak of 14 straight games where they gave up at least 30 points. They are led in tackles by linebackers Nate Landman with 97, and Davion Taylor with 60. Defensive end Terrance Lang leads the team with 4.5 sacks, and he’s followed closely by fellow defensive end Mustafa Johnson with four.

The game will come down to the Huskies’ offense, because everyone knows what the defense is capable of when at its best. If Jacob Eason can get the ball downfield and open up lanes for Salvon Ahmed, it should be a fun night for the Dawgs.
