Washington football’s losing streak came to an end on Friday night in Corvallis, beating the Oregon State Beavers 19-7, and becoming bowl eligible with their sixth win of the season

Washington football has now won eight in a row against the Beavers. It wasn’t pretty on offense

Washington Huskies defense played their best game of the season, shutting out a pretty high powered Beavers offense, holding them to eight total yards in the second half. Oregon State’s only points came in the third quarter when cornerback Jaydon Grant took a Jacob Eason interception to the house.

Oregon State’s offense was able to only to gain 119 yards on Friday night. Beavers’ quarterback Jake Luton was only able to throw for 88, going 19/28 with one interception. Eason on the other hand, went 16/32 for 175 yards and two interceptions. He did connect with Hunter Bryant for a long touchdown that got called back due to a block in the back.

Salvon Ahmed seems to get better every week, and had his best night as a Husky, running for 174 yards with two touchdowns on the night. The Huskies’ struggles late in games on offense showed up yet again, and thankfully due to Ahmed’s running and an incredible showing from the defense, the passing game didn’t need to have its best game to get out of Corvallis with a victory.

Oregon State had the ball five times in the second half, and they punted all five times. The Huskies had a bit of a defensive revelation in the second half where it seemed to be exclusively Edefuan Ulofoshio and Jackson Sirmon running at middle linebacker instead of Kyler Manu and Brandon Wellington. We’ll see if the coaching staff sticks with that pair going forward, or if they’ll go back to the two seniors.

The Huskies have a bye coming up, and will follow that open week up with a trip to Colorado to take on the Buffaloes.
