You never hear about Washington football’s long snapper, which is a good thing, but since he’s graduating this year, the Huskies have landed an excellent commitment to replace him

When it comes to the long snapper position, Washington football has one of the best in senior AJ Carty, who would probably be in consideration as an All-American if long snappers qualified for the award. Carty will definitely find a job at the NFL level, and it’s going to be tough to replace a steadfast player like him.

Enter Jaden Green, a 6’0, 200-pound long snapper out of Mesa, Arizona. For reference, Carty is 6’3, 243, so putting some weight on Green when he gets to campus is key. If he’s able to get on campus early, he’ll have more time with strength coach Tim Socha to put on some weight and potentially be ready to start the 2020 season.

Green also earned a spot as an Under Armour All-American because of his performance at one of the Kohl’s Kicking Camps competitions.

Now, I’m not going to sit here and pretend like I’ve ever broken down a long snapper in my life, so I’ll leave it to the experts. Green is the number one rated long snapper prospect in the class of 2020 according to 247 Sports, and is considered a three-star recruit in their rankings. But among specialists, according to Kohl’s Kicking Camps, Green is considered a five star prospect and the number three overall long snapper in the class of 2020. Below is their analysis of Green, and if you’d like to check it out for yourself, click right here!

“Green has attended multiple Kohl’s Camps and had (his) strongest performance yet at the Kohl’s National Scholarship Camp. He showed his superior explosiveness by registering a 41 MPH snap on the radar gun as well as finishing the charting session with an average snap time of .65 seconds. Green capped off the Kohl’s Scholarship Camp by winning the camp-wide snapping competition and earning a spot in the Under Armour All America Game. Green is without a doubt one of the most talented snappers and athletes in the 2020 class.”

Congratulations to Jaden on his commitment to Washington, and we can’t wait to see him in purple and gold!!
